Two-Day Workshop Format

Handbell Week 2023 is a two-day workshop held on Thursday, August 3 and Friday, August 4 between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm each day.
Two Performance Tracks
|
Each track includes different music levels and selections. Mass rung selections are performed by ringers in both tracks.
- Track 1 (developing ringers/directors, level 2 and 3 music)
- Track 2 (experienced ringers, intermediate/advanced handbell performance choir, level 3 and 4 music)
Ringing Position Assignments & Music
- Assigned ringing positions based on ringer preferences submitted with registration
- Workshop music is mailed to participants in advance of the workshop
Lunch (on your own, not included in registration fee)
Lunch is not included in the registration fee or served on site, however there are multiple lunch options available close to the church, including:
- Bring your lunch (refrigeration and microwave available)
- Leave the church to visit a local restaurant (fast-food and local options available)
- Place an order with a local restaurant for delivery to the church
Activities for Recreation & Relaxation
Madison offers a wealth of opportunities for exploration and recreation, including many fine shops, restaurants, parks (Orton park is within walking distance from the church) and hotels.
What to Bring
- Hand sanitizer and/or wipes for personal use if desired
- Water bottle (bottled water is available throughout the event at no charge in the kitchen refrigerator)
- Personal snacks as desired
- Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a carpet square with a smooth backing to stand on if desired
- Handbell gloves
- Black 3-ring handbell notebook
- Music riser
- Please 3-hole punch your music in advance if possible
- There is no concert outfit requirement for the informal concert at the close of the workshop-family and friends are welcome to attend
When You Arrive
- Workshop arrival begins at 8:00am on Thursday, August 3 (first session begins at 8:30am)
- It is not necessary to check-in, however there will be a greeter to answer questions and provide directions to the rehearsal locations, etc.
- Everyone meets in the Sanctuary for the first session
- See the daily schedule for specific rehearsal times and locations for Track 1 and Track 2
Other Notes
- Music will be mailed to participants in advance
- The sanctuary is air-conditioned, however the lower level classroom and lunch room area is not air-conditioned
- The facility is handicap accessible with an elevator available to access the lower level
- It is not necessary to bring any instruments or equipment unless specifically requested.
- Family and friends of participants are invited to attend the closing concert
